Why would anyone want to ride a bike from Perth to Sydney in a week? What sort of a holiday is that, riding across the Nullabor plain and sleeping in a tent? Are you crazy?

Just some of the responses I received from friends when discussing the idea of participating in the Black dog cycle across Australia. My cycling buddies very quickly offered ‘reasons’ as to why they couldn’t join me on this challenge!

Maybe I am crazy, surely a week in Bali with the family would have been a more relaxing break. But in my perhaps distorted view of the world, a week riding my bike across the greatest country in the world with a bunch of like minded people whilst raising money for an incredibly important cause will be a week well spent.

We all know people that have been effected by depression and mental illness, family members, work mates, politicians, professional athletes, no one is immune. The damage these illnesses cause is huge but fortunately awareness of these illnesses is increasing through the work of groups such as Black Dog and the increasing acceptance by society. Please help me to support this very worthwhile cause to continue the fight against mental illness.
